Past Progressive: הסבר ותרגול
Past Progressive (עבר ממושך) מתאר פעולה שהייתה באמצע, בתהליך, בנקודת זמן מסוימת בעבר: At eight o'clock I was watching TV. בונים אותו מ-was או were ועוד הפועל עם ing. כאן יש הסבר קצר ודפי תרגול בשתי רמות, עם דף תשובות והסבר לכל תשובה. מתאים לכיתות ז׳-ט׳.

מתי משתמשים ב-Past Progressive
פעולה בתהליך בנקודת זמן בעבר: At seven yesterday we were eating dinner. בשבע בדיוק הארוחה הייתה באמצע. אם הייתה מסתיימת בשבע, היינו כותבים We ate dinner at seven.
פעולה ארוכה שנקטעה: I was walking home when it started to rain. ההליכה היא הפעולה הארוכה (past progressive), והגשם שהתחיל הוא הפעולה הקצרה שקטעה אותה (past simple).
שתי פעולות ארוכות באותו זמן: While Dad was cooking, we were setting the table. שתי הפעולות נמשכו במקביל, ולכן שתיהן ב-past progressive.
when או while?
אחרי while בא בדרך כלל החלק הארוך, ב-past progressive: while I was waiting for the bus. אחרי when בא בדרך כלל החלק הקצר, ב-past simple: when the phone rang. הסדר במשפט יכול להתהפך, אבל התפקיד של כל חלק נשאר.

בסיסי: שנים עשר משפטים עם שעה או זמן מוגדר בעבר. בוחרים was או were לפי הנושא וכותבים את הפועל עם ing.
מתקדם: משפטי when ו-while עם שני פעלים, ומשפטים שהופכים לשלילה ולשאלה.
מה ההבדל בין I watched TV ל-I was watching TV?
I watched TV אומר שהצפייה הסתיימה. I was watching TV אומר שבאותו רגע בעבר הצפייה הייתה באמצע, ולכן בדרך כלל מוסיפים מה קרה בזמן הזה: when you called. את הצד השני של המשפט, past simple, מתרגלים בדף ה-past simple.

טעויות נפוצות
- לבחור were עם I, he או she: I were playing היא טעות, צריך I was playing.
- לשכוח את was או were: They playing at five היא טעות, צריך They were playing at five.
- להחליף את התפקידים ב-when: I walked home when it was starting to rain מבלבל את הפעולה הארוכה עם הקצרה.
- לכתוב פעלי מצב עם ing: I was knowing היא טעות, צריך I knew.
